About Spallumcheen

From England originally and I grew up close to a railway in Yorkshire. I was hooked about the age of five and was a serious "trainspotter" during the 1960's. Came to Canada(Edmonton) in 1970 and didn't renew my interest in railways until quite recently. I use a Nikon D40 and don't consider myself a serious photographer but enjoy the hobby. I have lived in Vernon B.C. since 1985.

Water level is reaching a peak as this westbound grain is crossing the narrows on Shuswap Lake. KCS units are becoming a more common site on the Shuswap sub since the CP/KCS merger earlier this year.

A track evaluation train is running westbound behind CN 4791 and alongside the Thompson River at Ashcroft. Work is being carried out on an extended siding at this location and will be complete in a few months time.

An industrial scene in Lavington BC. On the left is the Tolko Planer mill and on the right the Pinnacle Pellet plant. Three units are preparing to assemble today's train that will head west to Vernon and then north to Kamloops.

It is unusual to see a pair of cowls in the Okanagan. On this day CN nos.2438 & 2434 are climbing out of Armstrong in charge of a mixed freight and are headed north to Kamloops.

CP 8817 leads a westbound load of grain across the Stoyoma Creek trestle near Boston Bar. These tracks belong to CN but due to directional running they carry all westbound traffic in this area.
